New Year, New Milestones

1st Milestone:
Today is the first day my girl starts her playschool...big girl already...going to school already!

Officially she is only 3 1/4 years old but since she's born in 2011, she's considered 4 years old.

First time since she's born...I felt a bit lonely and didn't know what to do with my time for those few short hours she's at school. My boy (now standard 4) is also at school so the house is quiet and peaceful...for a short while, before both of them finish school.

2nd Milestone:
My girl is 'half potty trained' before she started school. Now she's fully potty trained during the day time (night time still in diapers to prevent accidents...for now).

Am more relaxed this time around and let her decide when she's ready to be diaperless. Then, one day she decided she's ready and refused to wear her diapers during day time. Phew...just in time because her school expects her to be potty trained by now.

3rd Milestone:
I am happy to say that I managed to fully breastfeed my girl and wean her off last week...just in time for school. She refused to drink fresh goat's milk or soy milk. Luckily she enjoys an organic blend of beans and grains 'milk' now.

It wasn't an easy journey...she refused to drink expressed breastmilk and reject the bottle. I had to bring her everywhere I go but with my ring sling, it made it easier. When she grew I bought a variety of baby wearing gears...ssc, meitai, wraps, hip carrier, etc.

I believe that because of breastfeeding and baby wearing my girl is much more healthy, calmer and confident compared to her brother.

I am blessed to be able to give this gift to my girl.

My Protective Little Girl

My mother gave my little girl 2 slices of apple, one for her, one for her mummy (me). She finished her little slice and was still holding on to my slice while waiting for me to finish showering.

My mother tease little NN...asking her to give her my slice of apple. NN ran away holding tightly to the apple and only passed to me once I stepped out of the bathroom :)

Sweet little darling!

My Mother's Day Present

This is my Mother's Day present from my son. His teacher taught him how to make it.

He drew his favourite picture of a fish in the front and wrote the words 'mummy I love you' at the back.

How time flies! Now he's already 7 years old... a big boy now.

Wishing all mothers a very Happy Mother's Day!

Handmade Soap by My Boy

Here's the glycerin soap made by my boy during the soap-making class yesterday. He was so proud of it and started using it to bath when we reach home. Funny thing is he loves the smell of roses fragrance oil and chose it for his soap's fragrance.

Do You Want To End Up Looking Like Mashed Bananas?

There are many shapes and sizes of bananas. Bananas tastes good whether they are eaten ripe, deep fried with batter (goreng pisang), blended into juices, sliced into ice-kacang or with ice-cream (banana boat). They are very nutritious also

However, one picture you do not want to see is a mashed banana. Not a pretty sight to behold

Well, you may end up looking like a mashed banana if you do not drive safely

Lately, I noticed that there are more reckless drivers on the road. Doesn't matter if they are driving a car, motorcycle or heavy vehicle. They just weave in and out of lanes without turning the indication lights on and without caring if they might get knocked into. Driving over the speed limits on highways. Haphazardly parking at no parking areas, blocking the traffic. This is just to mention a few that I experienced since last week

Just this morning I drove my husband to the bus terminal at Bukit Jalil to catch a bus to Johor. He called me 2 hours and 30 minutes later to say he has reached the destination. Well, the trip should take at least 3 and a half hours! The bus driver must be in a great hurry to become Super Mashed Banana Man! Doesn't he care about the safety of his passengers in the bus?

Oh! I must tell you about yesterday. As I was driving home, a man on a motorcycle just weaved in front of my car, wanting to cut to the right most lane to get on the highway. I nearly knocked into him and when I press my car hon to warn him, he just look back at me and gave me a smile BUT he did not even slow down or avoid my car. He must be really asking for it!

So.... Please... Please.... Drive Safely and think about the safety and well-being of your family in the car with you and of those in the other cars on the same road as you are.

I would like to end with this greeting to all my friends: Have a great holiday and have a safe trip back home with your family!

Warm wishes,

A Random Act Of Kindness

Yesterday, as I was driving home after closing the shop, I saw a man bending over by the roadside near the traffic lights. He was wearing a white shirt and bermuda shorts and was holding one of his slippers in his hand.

Initially, I thought he was a crazy man trying to hit someone with his slippers. Upon looking closer, I saw that he was actually using the slipper to move an injured puppy from the main road to the side of the road, away from the traffic. The man was patiently pushing the puppy while it was trying to snap and bite his hands.

It was only when the puppy was safely 'moved' to the side of the road that I noticed that the man had stop and parked his car nearby. At that time, it was already late at night but there's still heavy traffic at Pelangi Damansara.

Now... how many of us will take the time to stop, park our cars by the side of the road while taking the risk of getting hurt to help an injured stray, guide it to safety and maybe bring it to a vet later?

Good night,
Sany Woo

I Am Blessed To Be A Mother

Mother's Day is just around the corner and I am feeling all soft and warm inside just thinking about my little boy and what it means to be a mother.

I remember that day so vividly. I was with my hubby at the hospital for my check-up. My baby was 2 weeks overdue and didn't seem to be in any rush to come into the world. The doctor had to give him a bit of a prompting. After an hour of labour, we welcome HS into our lives. My parents and my in-laws were so excited because he's their first grandchild (which means he's in for a lot of pampering).

From that day on, my life was just an incredible journey of discovery with my little boy. I am blessed to be able to share his 'firsts'... his first cry, his first smile, his first little wriggle, his first crawl, his first little step, his first hug, his first little teeth, his first word, his first day at nursery, his first drawing, his first song... and the list goes on.

I still remember the first flower he gave me. He was just 1 year old then. My hubby was playing with him at the field and my baby got the urge to pluck a daffodil amongst the grass. With the little flower in his tiny hand, he indicated for his daddy to carry him and find his mummy (that's me!). It's amazing how he did that... he still haven't started talking but his daddy always seem to understand him. His little face look so sweet with his tiny mouth smiling when he gave me the flower. Precious moment.

He is such a sweet and loving boy, so independent, resourceful and intelligent. He always know how to work his magic on the people around him, especially the elderly. He seem to know when people are sad or unhappy and will start making these cute little faces or say funny jokes in an effort to cheer them up.

I am so blessed and happy to have him in my life. I love you my little 'popo' (precious).

All mother's have their special stories about their children and we are all such better persons because of them.

I would like to dedicate the video below to my mother, my mother-in-law and all the lovely mothers in the world.

Happy Mother's Day! Selamat Hari Ibu!

Warm wishes,
Sany Woo

Latest update: Kidnapped Girl Returns Home

To all my readers and friends,

I would like to inform that my friend's niece has finally return home yesterday. It has been a great moment of joy and relief for her whole family during the reunion.

Thank you all for your help and support!

Here's a news report documenting her return home

NOTICE: Please beware of this young man
Here is a picture of the 20 year old boy who kidnapped my friend's niece from her home. He is using a fake name, 盧 永斌 to cheat young girls. His real name is 方志偉.

Please help spread his photo around to warn other young girls and their parents about him!

My intention in posting this warning is to alert parents and their young daughters not to be so gullible and trust good looking and sweet talking boys, especially after knowing them for a short period of time.

Find out more about them, be on your guard and listen to your heart if it tells you that something might be wrong.

Visit to an Orchid Nursery

Last weekend, my family made an impromptu visit to one of the larger orchid nurseries located near the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (Subang) Airport, Selangor. Of course, a great opportunity to take pictures of the lovely orchids grown there! (Luckily, I brought my camera along).

It was a scenic drive through a long and windy road. Finally, we arrived at the nursery, which is a bit hidden away from the main road.

Once you enter the nursery, you will see rows and rows of colourful orchids.

You can view the pictures I have taken here.

Warm regards,
Sany Woo
